On 22nd February 2009, The Home Secretary Jacqui Smith announced a few changes to the PBS system to reduce the number of the migrants coming to the United Kingdom from outside the EEA.
Jacqui Smith pledged to use the flexibility built into the points-based system (PBS) to respond to changing economic circumstances - helping British workers through the hard times of the recession.
As per the proposal, From 01st April 2009, New Tier 1 Applicants required to have a Master's degree and a minimum salary of £20,000.
